Change
I had hectic morning. UB has stall in an international bazaar tomorrow and no namecard! I forgot to order so I had to print tempo namecard myself ha ha. I had to struggle a bit how to make it nice and use the nice orange paper efficiently. It’s fun tho.
One of my staff, AG, came to my work place. He told me that this coming three months would be his last part in uni. He takes architecture. He decided to go to uni a year after he worked in FRA in 1998. We support the time because he refused financial support. Fine.
He has flexy time at work although in practice he 'offers' his time 24 hours. Sometimes we need him as driver; in the evening to reception, or early morning to airport. Everybody is happy with the arrangement. And now he came with news that he has to attend studio full time. No more flexy time for workshop and house. Well, a bit shocking although -- of course -- I knew that this will come sooner or later.
We talked about biz too, how slow we are the last six months. Workshop has no activity the last two months except some orders from FRA. AG plans to leave workshop soon after he finishes uni. I care about the other two boys. AD has family and limited skill but he is very helpful in keeping FRA when LIN off and UB in bazaar. He is good in cleaning and simple cooking too. I would like to keep him for ever.
The other boy, ML (AD’s little brother), is intelligent. I had offered him further education when he just joined five years ago, he dropped the offer. But I think this is the time to send him to a short course. He has artistic hands. He is good in making calligraphy and sketching. If he takes course in graphic designing, I believe he could earn more from taking order. And I don’t mind getting only half of his time.
I need to talk to FRA staffs soon. We hadn’t had an open forum since biz becomes slow. We used to have every other Saturday. I have to look after them. What’s the future of everybody and FRA?! Aaargghh… It comes now.
I also took time to interview my live-in staff. She is very quiet. It needs patience to get her talking. This morning she told me that Chiko pee-d on her mattress again. I asked her to throw the mattress away and I will get a new one. So I asked her what kind of mattress she would like to have. Soo hard to get her idea. She is shy and … was scared of me?? I talked to her softly and patiently. Still.
Talk about something else, I remember a chat with friend. He told me his hypothesis about why many persons cheated me. He reminded me that I might have treated them like biz buddies. You get what you are supposed to get, I get mine, we are both happy. Mm.. he might be right.
He said that I might not give enough personal attention. Hm.. I wonder then, how far should I go? I talked to them over phone sometimes, I gave them time when they asked, I greeted them on special days like Eid and new year,… I felt bad for I didn’t know where I went wrong, but I felt better after I met YUG last week. She told me that a wife of a well-known journalist has similar problem, many cheated her. I know her. She is a caring and thoughtful person. I believe nothing is wrong with us. Like a friend told me, we just need to acknowledge both sides of a person: the good and evil.

Penemuan
Aduh kepala ini pusing sejak pagi. Seperti melayang.
Hi Sweetie. Tell me how you're doing? Are you in
Jakarta? Can I call you? Give me your number. Are you
coming to Singapore? I miss you. Love, M
Lalu baru saja aku kaget waktu nemu blog teman baikku. Aku membatasi ‘keanggotaanku’. Males banget terlalu banyak email pemberitahuan di Inbox (pasal ini lihat pos kemarin soal Inbox kurus).
Nulis untuk hari ini disudahi dulu. Sudah banyak. Aku masih ada tugas membaca dari teman. Seperti jadi anggota “book club”, kami suka bertukar pikiran tentang satu buku yang sama. Seru jugaaa..
